The annual membership meeting of Estes Park Sister Cities Association (EPSCA) will be different from any membership meetings in the past. We're going to learn and practice the kind of Latin dances that are popular in our sister city of Monteverde, Costa Rica. And you're invited to join the fun!
Professional dance instructor Joseph Snowhawk and his partner, Kasia, will headline the event at the beautiful Pavilion at the Stanley Hotel from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Friday, September 11. Joseph has taught tens of thousands of people to dance salsa, cha cha cha, merengue, bachata, swing and ballroom dancing. Joseph has established 30+ salsa, bachata & swing dance nights in Boulder and Denver including the Boulder salsa, rueda, bachata & West Coast Swing Social at the Avalon (20 years) and Salsa Sundays at D Note & La Rumba (24 years) in Denver which are 2 of the top dance nights currently running in the area.
A short business meeting, too
Of course, there will also be a short business meeting when our members will elect directors to fill any vacancies. This is a chance for you to renew your EPSCA membership or to join as a new member, to learn about the sister city relationship between Estes Park and Monteverde, Costa Rica, that spans more than 22 years...and, as a member of EPSCA, to vote.
A fundraiser for EPSCA
The event will be a fund-raiser for Estes Park Sister Cities Association. A suggested donation of $10 per person will help to defray costs of the meeting. EPSCA currently has only two sources of income to support its activities: annual membership dues and funds raised through the Great Estes Park Duck Race. Any contributions above $10 may qualify for annual membership in the organization. A cash bar will be available, and EPSCA will provide botanas (the term for “snacks” in Costa Rica). Parking fees at the Stanley will be waived for attendees of the EPSCA annual membership meeting.
Joseph & Kasia have been building the dance community for the past 36 years through community-based events and lessons. He started out in swing dancing and then went into competition ballroom dance, where he taught at several ballroom studios before opening his own in 1996.
¡Baile latino en la reunión anual de socios!
La reunión anual de miembros de la Asociación de Ciudades Hermanas de Estes Park (EPSCA por sus siglas en inglés) será diferente a todas las reuniones anteriores. Vamos a aprender y practicar los estilos de baile latino que son populares en nuestra ciudad hermana de Monteverde, Costa Rica. ¡Y usted está invitado a unirse a la diversión! El instructor profesional de baile Joseph Snowhawk y su pareja, Kasia, encabezarán el evento en el hermoso Pabellón del Hotel Stanley, el viernes 11 de septiembre, de 6:00 p. m. a 9:00 p. m. Joseph ha enseñado a bailar salsa, chachachá, merengue, bachata, swing y bailes de salón a decenas de miles de personas. Él ha organizado más de 30 noches de baile de salsa, bachata y swing en Boulder y Denver, incluyendo el evento social de salsa, rueda, bachata y West Coast Swing en el Avalon de Boulder (con 20 años de trayectoria) y los “Salsa Sundays” en D Note y La Rumba de Denver (con 24 años de trayectoria), dos de las noches de baile más destacadas que se celebran actualmente en la zona.
Por supuesto, también habrá una breve reunión administrativa en la que nuestros miembros elegirán a los directivos para cubrir las vacantes existentes. Esta es una oportunidad para renovar su membresía en EPSCA o para unirse como nuevo miembro, conocer más sobre la relación de hermanamiento entre Estes Park y Monteverde, Costa Rica — que abarca más de 22 años — y, como miembro de EPSCA, ejercer su derecho al voto.
El evento servirá para recaudar fondos destinados a la Asociación de Ciudades Hermanas de Estes Park (EPSCA). Se sugiere una donación de 10 dólares por persona para ayudar a cubrir los gastos de la reunión. Actualmente, la EPSCA cuenta únicamente con dos fuentes de ingresos para financiar sus actividades: las cuotas anuales de afiliación y los fondos recaudados mediante la “Great Estes Park Duck Race.” Las contribuciones superiores a 10 dólares podrían dar derecho a la afiliación anual a la organización. Habrá servicio de bar (de pago) y la EPSCA ofrecerá botanas (término utilizado en Costa Rica para referirse a los aperitivos). Se eximirá del pago de estacionamiento en el hotel Stanley a los asistentes a la reunión anual de miembros de la EPSCA.
